Rev. Bruce W. Kinchens is the third of five children born to the union of the late Mr. Henry Lee Kinchens and Mrs. Merdie Delois Kinchens, of Miami, Florida. Rev. Kinchens is married to Mrs. Gwendolyn Taylor Kinchens also of Miami, Florida and together they have 5 children, Raquel, Lamond, Anna, Henry and Jordan. He is also the proud grandfather of 10, and a great grandfather of Miami and Orlando Florida.
As a graduate of Florida Memorial College, he received his Bachelor of Science duel degree in Clinical and Community Psychology, minoring in Religious Studies. Rev. Kinchens attended the Preaching and Teaching seminar in Karlsrue, West Germany, under the Florida East Coast State Convention. Rev. Kinchens was licensed and Ordain by the St. Luke Baptist Church of Miami, Florida under the leadership of Rev. P. W. Williams.
Rev. Kinchens currently serves as Pastor at Grace Community of Faith Baptist Church, in Apopka, Florida. He served as Pastor of the New Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for 22 years. In 1980, Rev. Kinchens served as Pastor of the Weirholf Gospel service in Weirholf, West Germany for 18 months.
Rev. Kinchens also served from 5th Vice President to Vice President at-large until he became President of the Western States Baptist Convention of Colorado and Wyoming. He is the immediate past President of the WSB Convention of Colorado and Wyoming and Immediate past President of the Congress of Christian Education for the Southern District Association of Colorado and Pueblo Colorado. Rev. Kinchens served as President of the Evangelist Commission, Vice Moderator, Moderator (2 terms) for the SDA of Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado. He was a member of the SCMU (Southern Colorado Ministers Union). Rev. Kinchens has represented the WSB Convention through the Circle of Light International Ministries and has been blessed to preach in Europe, Africa and several states and cities in the USA. Rev. Kinchens has served as Regional Disaster Relief Coordinator for the NBC, USA, Inc. He is currently a member of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc., NAACP, and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Over 10 years, Rev. Kinchens served as an instructor for youth and adults with the Western Regional Youth Conference for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
Over the past 35 years in the military and civilian sector, Rev. Kinchens worked in the field of Mental Health, as a Mental Health Technician, Adult and Adolescence Addiction Counselor, Family Counseling, Methadone Counseling, Drug & Alcohol Counselor, Women and Family Counseling, Equal Opportunity Intervention, and A.I.D.’s Intervention Counselor.
Rev. Kinchens’ favorite scripture is Philippians 3:10-11 “That I may know Him, in the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto His death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”
